EMDR Trauma Retreat: Day 2

Today began at 8am after a quick breakfast. I slept in and it felt great. We talked through my homework. I watched a TedMed talk about ACES found here: https://youtu.be/95ovIJ3dsNk. I also had taken a quiz about my attachment style, which you can take if you're interested: https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/ECR.php.

We then started to tackle some of my traumas from my timeline. The process of EMDR is definitely different from talk therapy and it's pretty neat. I know I haven't written much, but my brain is tired after a nap this afternoon and it's dinner time now. So I'm off to find food before I crawl back in bed. Brain work makes the body tired.  Here's a little video about EMDR:

Until tomorrow!

Walt Disney and heading home

I was able to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum before I headed home. It was a great stop for me and it was fascinating.  I was able to see the WW2 exhibit they had but pictures weren’t allowed. After that, I headed to the airport to fly home. My puppies were so happy to see me!

Visiting the redwoods and heading south again

I had arrived at my adorable Airbnb right around midnight and crawled into bed. I was in Miranda, CA. I woke up a few hours later and got ready for my day. It was finally time to see the redwoods! They were amazing! I went to one of the visitors centers and learned a little bit about the history of the area and then wandered on a little nature walk.  Then I headed to one of the drive thru trees that are in the area. It was crazy! I headed further south from there and eventually crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and arrived at my hotel for the night. I had some down time to rest and enjoyed that. Then, I headed out for a nighttime tour of San Francisco.    I did some souvenir shopping and ordered in some dinner before getting some sleep. Still more adventures to come!

Grieving Quote

Favorite Quote of the day: "Grieving is a process we go through that helps us let go of hopes and dreams we no longer have. It's a process that helps us obtain new hopes and dreams." -Kent Allen #WWConference2018
